A news package about a local holiday event for families to enjoy safely during the pandemic.
Positives: I love your energy in this pkg. Make sure to carry that in all pieces you do. You sound interested in the topic and that helps keep the viewer engaged. The holiday music was a fun touch that worked for this topic. It was great to see what you were talking about in your tracks
Improvements: Make sure you shoot people straight on in an interview. I feel like I was looking up at Allisa The shot from 27-28 seconds looked like a jump cut since we're all facing the same direction. You can add a transition to fix that. I like that you had a variety of shots, but they were all really quick. it's okay to hang an extra few second here or there. It was hard to focus with the constant switching of shots Dodi's interview was shot really tight and the top of her head was cut off Not sure if you had it, but it would have been great to hear some nats of the kids having fun or the families reading the book
Positives: - Your reporter track is great. Good mix of writing and soundbites -- and the inflexion in your voice is really well done. That's tough to do! - Great job capturing moments of emotion from the kids and getting different interviews.
Improvements: - You used music under the entire piece. While appropriate to your story, it isn't allowed under the sound directions. Also, having the natural sound from your b-roll would help tell the story. We want to hear the kids cheering and having fun! - This story could've greatly benefited from more shot composition and sequencing in your editing. You have some good wide shots, but then transition from there to medium and close-up shots.
Positives: -Well shot and edited... I liked seeing sequences between clips (going from a wide shot to a close up shot of the same subject) -well written. I liked the narration of tracks because it sounded conversational and engaging.
Improvements: -would have liked to hear more natural sound... perhaps having a parent read book to their kids as they walk along. --would have been great to see the reporter. Perhaps add a stand-up at the end of the piece to add an important face to the piece and show presence.
