  • 4/30 12:52 pm - The video quality and the audio quality are quite good. Levels are balanced and clear. This is an IHSA sectional swim meet which is where girls qualify for state championships. It would have been helpful to KNOW the state cut and be clear about that in their announcing. I felt as though the boys could have discussed the other girls in the heat, even thought it was clearly a home school broadcast. Graphics were a sectional logo in the bottom left corner. Two camera shoot but not much variety in those shots. The wide shot was exceptionally wide and I prefer not seeing as much of the ceiling in a wide shot. It would have been helpful to have the state cut as a graphic as well as what the name of the event was. The announcers were adept at taking turns and sharing the play-by-play and color commentary. While they did have filler, it could have been more swim specific. In addition when announcing the results, refer to the event again.

  • 4/29 10:22 am - The play by play (the first 48 seconds) had great audio. Both boys voices are very distinct, clear and intentional. With the statement on the bottom, that this is an IHSA sectional, I thought I would get a but more unbiased commentary and play by play. But the commentary focused around the Neuqua girl. The other two, close to her were mentioned, but only in a way to put perspective on the Neuqua swimmer. When McKenna finished, the other swimmers weren’t even mentioned after that. I appreciate that the two boys make mistakes, but correct themselves. They provided decent filler for between the race. In terms of cameras, it would have been nice to have a second camera next to the wide shot that was capturing more detail as a tight show. We have the scoreboard shot, the creative pool shot and a follow shot of the Neuqua/lead pack girl. I would have liked to have seen a clock as a graphic, so as to know how close these swimmers were to their qualifying times.
  • 2/24 6:16 pm - Is this video produced by the IHSA? We see the logo, so that's easily inferred. If not, does the IHSA allow member schools to use reproductions of its logo on non-IHSA products? "As she goes...." - not typical swimcast play-by-play terminology. 0:39 in and no other cameras. No tight camera on lead swimmer? No crowd/reax camera? 0:47 - by this time we should see swimmer climbing out of pool on tight shot. "Milli-seconds" or "tenths-of-a-second?" I like the high/corner camera as a transitional choice, but would still rather have a tight camera. Talent should have rosters, so refer to opponents by their names, not their schools; Jim Nantz said "Tom Brady threw a touchdown," not "Tampa Bay threw a touchdown" during his play-by-play call for the Super Bowl. No poolside reporter with post-interviews? P-B-P & color provided adequate descriptions & accounts. Camera op. was steady & followed action. But the overall visuals just weren't that exciting.
