  • 4/30 8:50 am - It’s tough to get creative with a solo performance. Good job of pacing between different angles and the slow pan/tilt up from the back of the piano is a nice touch. I would have liked to see those shots last longer and move slower. The dissolves were a nice touch and fitting for the music. Audio sounded great!
  • 3/11 2:56 pm - Nice look to the shoot. Especially liked the moving shots and slow pans- gave it a professional look. One of the moving shots got overused a bit- maybe find some new movements to use and not go to the same one multiple times. Was hoping to get an extreme close-up of the singer and the mic- that would have been another shot added to the variety you need to make a shoot like this work. Audio was solid and sounded clear. Keep your framing tight, as a couple of times it seems the camera moved a bit. Overall, a solid performance.
  • 3/8 9:21 am - Great camera set up for this performance. Great shots of the piano, the subject, his hands playing the piano, and wide shot. The use of the pans to bring our attention to the subject was a nice touch as well. The audio was also clean and crisp. For this shot, there was some movement of the frame (2:27), make sure your tripod is in a location where this might not occur, or make sure the axis points are locked tightly. Great job overall, you really kept me engaged as a viewer and made this performance look great for the audience.

Positives: Nice use of cameras! Really liked that you had a camera focused on the keys of the piano, then also had different shots of him playing, singing and the piano. The transitions between the cameras were on point as well and worked well with the music and story he was telling.

Improvements: Make sure you don't use too many pans. I know you have to get creative with your shots, but don't use pan after pan. Zoom in as close as you can on his face, or even singing into the mic. You could even try zooming in farther on the keys.

Positives: Nice dissolves to the musician playing the piano. Nice use of interesting pans and camera angles.

Improvements: The singer's voice felt a bit louder than the piano -- felt hard for me to adjust my volume to get it right. I know it is difficult to mix music. Could have used a nice wide shot to see the whole piano and him sitting there -- I realize it can be tricky depending on how much gear you have.

Positives: Audio mix and color mix on cameras was very good! I liked the detailed shots, picking up the hands and the inside of the piano. You chose nice slow fade transitions between cameras. Overall, great job!

Improvements: Don't overdue the detailed shots as the singer should still be the main focus of the video. I would never start a camera shot down by his butt and move up to his face. Start from is head off camera (Bottom left since he was facing to the right) and drop in with a slow fade and rack in. (Racking in means to start out of focus and as subject comes into frame so does the focus)
