  • 4/30 8:52 am - The set looks fantastic! The flow and pacing of the cutting is great. I would have liked to see a variation in camera framing since everything we see seems to be a different static wide shot. Camera movement whether zooms, pans, tilts would have helped.
  • 3/9 12:35 pm - Video quality is great. Colors are vibrant and it looks professional. Audio the same- consistent levels that allow for the song to be heard very well. The shots and camera angles are the biggest critiques. Almost all of your shots are the same shot, just from a different angle. I get it- lots of people on the stage and we want to see what's happening. But there still needs to be variety in the angles. When a soloist is singing- get tight! Let's see them! Cutaways are important- so get some extreme close-ups on some faces, some feet- anything! you can always go back to the long shot, but keep us interested with some expressions and close-ups as well. All about framing- make sure the frame of your shot is filled with people, not ceiling or wall as your side angles did a few times. Overall, it's a well-done production!
  • 3/8 3:20 pm - Great use of the multiple camera angles. With your side camera in this performance, make sure to pan it more to get as many of the individuals in the shot as possible. You had a lot of empty space on the left side of the shot. (0:38). Your side camera that was set up higher could have been zoomed in less to bring in more of your subjects as well here (1:30). The video overall is very well done and high quality. Nicely done!

Positives: The sound for a large performance like that was clear enough to understand which can be tough. Also, I thought you changed over to the different cameras at the correct time.

Improvements: I would have liked to see an actor or actress's face up close. All the shots were wide and it was hard to be able to see the expression which helps tell the story. With multiple different cameras, I would make sure to have couple close shots. Also, don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone with the camera. Since you have a few cameras to work from, go ahead and try zooming in and out different times or even do a pan.

Positives: This was really well done! I have watched many performances like this over the years, and so often it is hard to see the performers, difficult to figure out who is singing, etc. Nice job capturing the right people at the right time -- I could clearly determine who was singing the solo parts. Nice use of camera angles -- I was able to get the perspective of the whole stage, and then also enjoy some more intimate shots of the performers. Nice audio mixing -- can be hard with live music, but this was done well.

Improvements: Would have loved one more camera on the other side of the stage, but I get that resources can be limited! Was good use of what you had. A few tighter shots mixed in would have been nice -- a closer look at a specific dancer, for example.

Positives: The opening wide shot with a slow push was a perfect way to start. The color matching from camera to camera was very good. The audio mix was pretty good as well.

Improvements: I would have liked to have seen more tight shot (Waist to head). I would have started on the exact same shot that you chose but just has the talent was about to start singing I would have gone to a tight shot. Try to time the cuts to go along with the music, which means you really have to know the show.
