  • 4/30 9:15 am - Creative to have this performance outside, the location works! The biggest issue I had was every shot seemed like a static wide shot from a different angle, with the exception of a couple towards the end of the video. Variation in camera framing and movement is key in keeping dance performances dynamic.
  • 4/29 9:16 am - Great job with this dance performance. I would try to incorporate different camera angles for this performance in the future. There were multiple times you had subjects being cut out of frame as well, try and make sure you keep everyone in the frame, otherwise throw in some close-ups to feature a few of the dancers at one time.
  • 3/2 12:35 pm - The dance looked nice. As for the live recording, here are a few comments. It looks like you had 3 camera angles for the dance, however, all three angles looked very similar. You definitely need to add some variety to the camera angles- we want to see close-ups of the faces, a cool shot of the feet moving, etc. Cut aways need to be just that- a cut away to something different, and all the shots were the same full-body shot, but just a different angle. The main camera- in front, also had a different tint to it, as if the white balance had not been set on it like the other two. Make sure all camera shots "look" the same when it comes to lighting and color. Lastly. some sound other than the music would have been nice. Since it is a live performance, let's hear the ruffling of the feet on the dirt, the shrills, the movement- even if it's low in the background, it would give the feeling of a live performance better than what we see, which could be misconstrued as a music video. Nice work.

Positives: I really liked that you had a close up of the girl doing the round-off during the middle of the performance. I thought it was great to have the focus on her. Also liked that you had different angles throughout the dance.

Improvements: Be careful when you are using different shots that your camera is in focus. Sometimes when you switched to one of the side cameras, the girls weren't in focus. Also, don't be afraid to show their face while dancing. That helps tell the story. I want to see the expression on their face. I know they have a mask on, but that will help with the story.

Positives: The audio sounded great. Nice to have the mix of camera angles, and nice use of them all. Was good to have the wide perspective and then more intimate shots of the dancers.

Improvements: The color didn't seem to match between the cameras. Not sure if they were balanced equally or if it was something that should have been better adjusted in edit, but the wide seemed browner/more yellow than the side shots and that was a bit disconcerting. Would have been nice to have a few tighter shots on specific dancers, although I realize that can be tough with so many in a tight space!

Positives: In the second half of the video you started doing tight shots on some of the dancers and that looked great. Camera transitions were well timed and flowed well with the speed of the music.

Improvements: In order to keep peoples attention you should have started doing the tight shots sooner in the video. The main wide camera was not centered on the group and someone was usually half off the frame. Camera colors did not match. That should always be done when doing a multi camera shoot.
