Entry Description

Noche Silenciosa is my perspective on what the holidays looked like during the pandemic winter of 2020-2021. I tried to capture the efforts made in my community to cherish the holiday, but also the seeming emptiness and lack of in-person events that would normally be a part of our community traditions.

  • 4/29 4:27 pm - Pros - Nice variety of compositions, shot size, and movements. The theme takes the viewer right to the warm feeling of holiday time in downtown La Grange. Rack focus to the lights and drift movements on the lighted star against the dark of night are very graceful. Cons - The reel overall did not do a great job demonstrating the shooter's range in a variety of settings and lighting situations. While the theme is consistent, it only allows for night exterior in an environment where no light is altered by the shooter. Some shots appear shaky to the point of distraction and would benefit from a tripod. Choppy movements need to be smoothed out and exposure needs to be more consistent; night exterior can be tricky and cause low contrast, muddy images at times.
  • 4/6 1:04 pm - Great work playing with the evening backdrop and the found artificial light- showcased through a variety of perspectives and angles. The shots could have used more stabilization- either through a gimbal or in post to help us as viewers have a defined focal point. Great idea to capture a local space in a creative way.
