This is a live filming of an act in our school's Variety Show. There are various angles and movements of the cameras to highlight the singers in the best way possible.
Positives: Like that you use different camera shots throughout the entire piece and have the camera on the singer who has the solo singer. Also good directing in between cameras. It flowed really well.
Improvements: Don't be afraid to use zoom in and outs, and pans. You don't have to leave the camera still. It could help tell the story. Make sure you watch the headroom on the different singers. If you are going to zoom in, just make sure you're watching how you have to change your shots.
Positives: Nice audio mix. Can be tricky with live music! Great job getting the camera on the right person so viewers can get a sense of who is singing, and then a wider to show where that person is.
Improvements: Would have been nice to have a few dissolves in the mix. Would have been nice to have a few pans of the camera... felt very static.
Positives: Camera switching was pretty good. I liked the opening and ending shot with a wide push and a wide pull. Your use of close shots to highlight specific performers was done well.
Improvements: You seem to have a good grasp on the basics, I would encourage you to start using more camera motion like slow pushes and pulls. When you cut from the wide open shot make sure you switch to that tight shot just a breath before they start singing. You should already be to them before they start singing but don't get there too early. Some of the shots were to hot or the iris needed to be turned down. I typically turn my zebras on and have them set to around 70. Then I know when I start to see the zebra stripes showing up on the skin that it is properly exposed. It can be hard to do on the fly but it can be done.
