  • 2/22 11:13 am - The open is cute. The show jumps in a little too fast once the open is done. The anchors framing is strange when there is not an over the shoulder graphic. Maybe a soundbite about school play, sounds like it was done quite different. Sports was solid. I like it on location. VBall story, lav mic cord visible. Feaxcoming OTS was up for maybe 2-3 seconds? Package had good video, be careful to not throw to a soundbite by saying "this is what they had to say". The choir story was a great idea. I think WUWS is a great idea, very YouTube feel.

Positives: The pacing was great, your newscast kept my attention. Great job on the packages! This was a really good newscast and you should all be proud!

Improvements: A minor thing but when you put a mic on someone, have them put the cord down their shirt or have it go around their back. It is distracting to viewers to see that long black cord. Really great job on the packages, I would've added in some more nat pops and natural sound

Positives: -You had a very unique set of stories and very creative content. From. the choir story with the singer masks and zoom choirs to the Trumpet playing the viewers off and out of the program. I really like the fresh take on content! -Great work with the b-roll and story production on that choir story. I liked how you shot it and were able to sequence a series of shots together of students singing while socially distanced. It's not an easy thing to do even before COVID, let alone in an empty auditorium, but you all made that video interesting and enjoyable to watch.

Improvements: -I am not a fan of the green screen background for the main anchors. Maybe do green screen of the trumpet player instead! He was crushing it! I was distracted on the anchor segments with that blue compass spinning behind them. -Over all produced strongly, but shots were under exposed, almost as expected in things like the night hunt story. I would maybe swap that story to be later in the broadcast because of it having less interesting video content.

Positives: -Good energy by anchors -Nice opening music sequence -Good job speaking clearly with masks on! I know that can be a huge challenge. Shows good adaptation to news in a COVID era though. -The top of the newscast felt timely with newest info -Great delivery from sports reporter -Good use of over the shoulder visuals -Choir pkg had good delivery and tracking, good natural sound used throughout the whole package -Very creative whats up westside segment, love the priority for some feel good lighter news

Improvements: - Audio editing can be very tricky and challenging! The first package had varying audio levels, and was hard to hear at some points. Make sure when you edit, you watch the levels, not just listen by your own ear. Also make sure to use a microphone for interviews, especially outside. Otherwise the wind can take over and drown out the interviewee. -This is very nitpicky, but make sure anytime you put up visuals, that its up long enough for the viewer to see it and take it in. Great job using over the shoulder graphics to fill some gaps while anchors read, but the homecoming one for example needed to be up longer.
