Positives: Drive-in theater package was fun and creative Lots of great editing and movement in packages

Improvements: I would suggest more 2 shots. I saw one off the top of the show and then the end. I would've liked to have seen more interaction between the two anchors The BLM was harder than the other stories in the show - I would've put it as the first story.

Positives: -I loved the drive in story! Extremely well shot and produced. Maybe not a lead story, but an interesting and well done piece. You utilized diverse b roll and sequenced segments as well as put it together without any narration. Made it feel like a great multimedia feature. -I like the anchor desk setup and think the production value as a whole felt like a newscast you would see on the affiliate channels. The talent looked very professional as well and produced strong pieces to air for the show.

Improvements: -This is nitpicking, but I would switch up the order of the stories. Kick off with the local angle to the George Floyd reaction. Maybe do a cold open to the show of the soundbite where the kid talked about his mom experiencing discrimination or the line that there is racism in Deerfield. The drive in story is great but more of a feature so I would do Racism in Deerfield, Sports during a Pandemic, and wrap up with the Drive in and have a little banter after between the anchors about that story reacting. -If an anchor does the story and tosses to it, they don't need to tag out of the story with their name. It is redundant and sometimes confusing to the viewer. Small things like that make a big difference. Also the moment that the anchor said "please enjoy my story" may not come off well on air. Viewers are cruel and pounce on every word you say. I know this from being a live anchor and reporter for years. The only other thing I would say is remember to do padding on your packages. the third package faded to black and that should not happen on traditional newscasts. It didn't enhance the story to fade out. I think fades are good after a somber ending in a story or a wild SOT that makes you go "wow".

Positives: -Great opening sequence -Great shots in theater package!! -Great interview set up and lighting, overall production value -I think this newscast had a good use of natural audio and music in the background, sometimes it can be too much and definitely isn't always needed -Anchor energy was good -Liked the sports package, had good interviews -Nice job using over the shoulder gfx -Good job tackling a huge political issue -Good edits in BLM pkg, matching it to music...way to go including lots of voices impacted by the issue.

Improvements: -I really liked the way story introductions were written, but a nitpicky suggestion would be to cut out "please enjoy my story". For a more natural way to credit yourself if you have a package and are the anchor, you can go straight to package after the introduction, and end the piece with a tag out line that includes your name. -At a few points the pacing felt a little slow. Pacing is very difficult in newscasts and viewer attention is getting shorter and shorter, so always be mindful when writing and delivering!
