  • 4/19 7:12 pm - POSITIVES: Overhead shots were a nice addition, but sometimes needed to be framed tighter. Very clean location for all shots, with no background distractions. Story is well-constructed... you clearly know about this! SUGGESTIONS: Great opening, but frame it tighter to connect to the personality of your host-- too much headroom. Trim at 1:23 to cut when you look off-camera. Audio is a bit echoey-- use a wired lav to capture better audio.

Positives: Clear narration and process steps in script. Some good camera work on close-ups. Nice audio mix with music.

Improvements: Need to define right at the top of the script what it actually means to "propagate a succulent", most will not know anything about this topic. Some camera shots could be much closer, especially when show process.

Positives: You do an excellent job telling the viewer what to do, so your process is solid. I thought that your sound was clear and easy to hear; make sure to watch for the music being too loud.

Improvements: When you are doing the supplies' overhead shot, make sure that the camera does not move as that becomes a distraction. I wish you had done a time-lapse on the growing process. It would have added so much to this video and made it even stronger. I want to see what the process looks like and if I am doing it correctly.

Judge 3

Positives: Well demonstrated and the narrator obviously had knowledge of the subject.

Improvements: A lav mic on the narrator at the beginning would have been more effective. There was too much echo from the mic used at the beginning and throughout. Change the ending to holding the succulent instead of waving goodbye.
