  • 4/30 10:37 am - I really like the shot selection, but a lot of the camerawork is a tad shaky. The shakiness works during the most dramatic sequences, but it takes away during the earlier half of the film. Overall, the editing was solid and very entertaining. I especially enjoyed the edits from 2:00 to 2:34. The biggest flaw in this film is the sound. There are a lot moments where you leave the mic's noise/fuzz going when it should have been taken out or its dBs should have been significantly lowered. Also, from 2:40 to 2:50, there is no sound for seemingly no reason. I really liked the water pouring out of the door at 3:06 - nice touch! Despite its audio issues, the short ends very strong and all of the underwater shots (especially during the credits) are fantastic. One final suggestion would be to have the underwater shots red instead of blue to match the other shots.
  • 3/10 8:29 am - Your story was a little hard to follow, I guess what would have made it easier to follow was if you had given me some clues as to how someone had died in the house, or what all the dripping water meant. I know the man on the bike had said something, but it wasn’t enough. Didn’t find your character believable, they were too young. And I never really felt like the young lady was ever scared/fearful even when she saw the black writing on the newspaper. The vibe got from her was that she was annoyed, but I couldn’t tie it to anything in the video. I guess what I am saying is the newspaper reveal didn’t come across real scary because the actress didn’t seem real freaked out. Some of the music coming on and off was too sudden and as a result distracting. Some of the shots seemed awkward, and cramped, and I am guessing it is because you are shooting in a tight space. Many people make the mistake of filming their stories with too many of these wide cover shots, so I appreciated all your close ups, however, after a while I needed a few wide shots too. Had some continuity errors that I couldn’t help but notice - mask on and mask off 1:23 and again at 2:41. Also at 3:35 I can see part of your crew in the background Why did the water color seemed to change from red to blue to red. I assume the red is from blood, but how did the girl get bloody. Not that I wanted to see gore, but she drowned, so where did the blood come from? I think there were some really genius moments with how you pulled off some effects, and brought the visual and audio together, I think you have a real skill for using the media to tell a story. I guess I was hoping for something new, a twist, etc because it is a story that has been told many times before which made it very predictable and as a result less impacting (in spite of your skills).
