  • 3/11 2:53 pm - middling production values and voice over. (some overexposure, color balance issues) Too derivative of GOODFELLAS. Poor sound mix
  • 2/25 1:57 pm - STORY: I see what you were going for here, obviously inspired by Scorcese’s movies. But you need to shoot WAY more in order to make a proper trailer. Just shooting some scenes outside of a church isn’t enough. Adding in 6-8 more scenes and shots from different locations, showing your mob crew doing their business, would have made this much more believable. CAMERA: Shot composition was inconsistent. You need to learn about the rule of thirds. Your over the shoulder shot at the 35 second mark is poorly framed; it should focus on the blond kid, not show half of an empty parking lot. EDITING: The pacing was kind of slow for the majority of this trailer, and then it seemed rushed toward the very end. Almost seemed like you didn’t have a plan and you made this up while you were editing it. LIGHTING: No apparent use of lighting other than whatever was available. Shame, really. Scorcese painted gorgeous and epic movies with his understanding of lighting. AUDIO: Your voice over was only coming through the left channel for the first 33 seconds, and then it switched to the right channel at 34 seconds. And then it switches back. Also, your audio mix is off. The primary dialogue or voice over should be between -6 and -12 db on the VU meter, and your music bed should be between -18 and -24. In your case, the music is too loud in the mix.
