This is a news package about the Hope Wall in upper C wing at Maine West.
Positives: - I love this story! You did a great job getting all the necessary elements: construction video, a variety of shots of the wall, perspectives from both teacher and students. This story is complete, the last soundbite was perfect, and that is awesome to see you mastered it! - I like how you wrote to your video. When the teacher references a certain spot, you have it. Great work!
Improvements: There isn't much room for improvement, so I'll nitpick: - Always look for natural sound. In this case, maybe it's the noise of the construction, or the sound of the marker as someone writes something for the wall. Just using little bits and pieces of that will only add to this. - I'd challenge you to get even more creative on your shot composition. Maybe put the camera on the ground for one shot, try to catch a student's reaction as they pass by it, etc.
Positives: I like how you really worked hard to match your track with your broll. If you said it, we saw it. I like how you got a student's perspective. It was great that you really let the teacher and her sound tell the story and explain what this project was all about Great piece and cool topic
Improvements: Where did you get the time lapse video of the construction? Was it a live camera from the school or did your station shoot it? If it's not yours, then it needs a source. Same with the you are beautiful photo. Did your teacher take that picture or you? Was there any nat sound of the construction? The teacher mentioned it's very loud while she's teaching.
Positives: -loved all the video sequences… the different angles made a simple. construction wall look appealing -interviews framed well
Improvements: -would’ve liked to see a reporter standup -would’ve liked to hear more natural sound in between tracks. Perhaps of someone sticking a post it on to the wall, etc
