- 4/19 2:50 pm - The submission is a very nice work of fiction, but in terms of a professional reel or portfolio, it lacks both depth and breadth of filmmaking. There's some very impressive composition going on particularly with the shadow in the door, but once again as a professional portfolio this submission needs to be rethought. You want to make sure that you are highlighting your skill that is cinematography both and dramatic and documentary fashion. Maybe add a few more practical shots. There's a ton of things going on at high schools, grab a camera and go shoot some stuff and make it look dope.
- 3/2 10:49 am - Pros - Fun concept for a submission. Lots of nice compositions evocative framing on display here. The use of obstructed frames and subtle handheld helped insert the camera as its own character in the story and compliment the storytelling in a very positive way. The synchronization of the lighting effects with the music was a nice touch as well. Cons - The night setting of the story afforded you to show your practical and motivated lighting skill, but also cornered you into only showing that skill, which worked against you at times, like at 0:37 when the exposure was way over by the refrigerator. It also seemingly forced you to maintain a shallow depth of field, which worked well at times (0:14, 1:21) but struggled more often (0:26, 0:32, 0:47, 1:06, 1:34, 1:36). I feel like the blade should really be in focus at 1:36 and not the killer's knuckles. The POV shot at 0:46 feels out of place and unnecessary, given the voyeuristic vibe you are setting.
