  • 4/28 4:06 pm - Nice variety of shots to start the video. Good framing and following rule of thirds. Good matching of lip sync. Nice job with the fight scene.
  • 4/18 12:04 pm - Strong compositions! Great variety of shots! I really like how the shots made it known that time was passing. Great job!
  • 2/22 10:06 am - Good variety of shots. Nice job by the actor. The singer coming on around 20 seconds kind of appears out of nowhere and is jarring to the view. The interconnection between the story and the singer could be better integrated and the story could be better developed.
Judge 1

Positives: The story is clear and moves well. There are some convincing performances.

Improvements: Please avoid cliches like starting a film with a subject waking up from sleep. The drums need to be less harsh and tinny (different compressor and try a de-esser as well).

Judge 2

Positives: Structurally sound, with a strong B-story, and simple but well-acted performance. The editing was solid as well.

Improvements: Some out of focus shots. Used only available lighting, which isn't in and of itself bad, but resulted in varying exposures within the same scene and contrast based only on cloud cover.

Judge 3

Positives: Narrative elements were used effectively. I could stay engaged with the story because I felt a connection with the hero and wanted to see what was going to happen next. Solid editing amplified the good elements.

Improvements: Editing also could have been quicker. There were a lot of long shots that didn't really evolve as the video went on. Could have used more variety when filming the singer. Also, the lack of lighting made the images look grey and similar. With a story like this it would have benefitted from better photography and lighting.
