Entry Description

In this clip, our High School's Orchestra performs the song: "Sleigh Ride". This fun song was played at our Holiday Concert on December 15th 2021.

Judge 1

Positives: -nice medium shots of people playing music -starting off with an establishing shot was great to bring the viewer to the concert

Improvements: -the medium shot was up (:21 -:31) too long. The shot was dark and there was little movement or enthusiasm. - :48 Tilt down on some of the wide shots if you can. There was a lot of head room and people at the bottom were cut out

Judge 2

Positives: Everything looked balanced and camera placements gave us great views of everything. Other than the one accident camera bump which is okay it happens, all of the camera shots looked in focus, and steady.

Improvements: Most of the time, the live shots were sitting on groups for way to long, would like the pace of directing to match the music and make your transitions to the beat. Having a little bit of camera movements would also blend and make the overall viewing experience more interesting.

Judge 3

Positives: - Lots of cameras, and lots of good shots from those cameras! - Audio was cleanly mixed

Improvements: - Would have liked a little faster pace to the directing. One way to help would be to have some (not every single one!) cameras slowly pan between multiple performers when they're on some isolation shots instead of every camera holding static. Mixes things up a little for the viewer. - Especially in music concerts, using dissolve transitions instead of hard cuts between cameras can really soften the transitions and fit in well with the flow and tempo of the music.
