A 7 camera shoot of an act from Glenbrook North's Variety Show, Emerge. Production involved a week of rehearsals and run throughs.
Positives: -Great job with the wide shots. They have purpose and show formation changes -great job fluidly changing the shots and angles
Improvements: -you can add creativity to the shots by adding medium/tight shots when it's appropriate
Positives: Cameras were in a position that worked well to view the dancing from a few different angles. For a small group it's sometimes difficult to cut between with use of shots not looking too similar but I think it worked well!
Improvements: Directing was trying to cut to the beat but sometimes was either taken to late/early and a few times wide shots taken for too long.
Positives: - Overall good job by the cameras of following and keeping everything in frame - one little slip early where we cut off a few arms and heads in the frame, but other than that it looked good. - Good job by the director to utilize all available angles and cut quickly to match the pace of the song.
Improvements: - When you only have five performers on stage, you can take a few chances with a camera angle or two and have them zoom in for much tighter framing. Don't feel like you need to have all five dancers in every shot - I would have liked to see an isolation shot of each of them mixed in at some point. - For a dance number, make sure cameras are expecting movement and that we don't cut off arms if they get waved up in the air.
