4/27 9:09 am - This was an ambitious attempt and what feels like a cross between a Saturday Night Live skit and a TikTok or Vine short. I applaud the effort and I love some of the nods to movie tropes and award shows. Great work!
As for the execution of some production pieces, some of your scenes are heavily reliant on two-shots and wider shots. Move closer to your actors, and think about using close-ups for reaction shots; this will help hit the comedic reaction better and also bring your audience closer to the story.
Your editing moves at a nice clip, you have a good pace overall, but it's pretty short overall and there's room to add some narrative structure in place to help the story.
Keep working on your craft, you're on the right track and attempting some great work
2/24 3:11 pm - STORY: I think that this was supposed to be a parody of the types of dramatic (or melodramatic) roles and movie scenes seen in an awards show montage. Your attempt to re-create that vibe was done well, but overall it just wasn’t as funny as it could have been. Maybe you just weren’t quite cheesy enough with each of the movie scenes.
CAMERA: some of the camera work was out of focus or just poorly framed. If you are making a parody of movie scenes, the shots still need to look like they are from actual movie scenes. This means cinematic shot compositions, using the rule of thirds, a mix of shots that aren’t just at eye level, etc.
EDITING: The editing of this whole thing was a little choppy. The pace seemed inconsistent; you spent what felt like a lot of time on the first scene with the girl playing guitar, then the next scene was shorter. It felt kind of rushed toward the end. Most of all, I felt like there should have been an ending showing the winner.
LIGHTING: lighting should work hand-in-hand with the camera to help create more cinematic scenes. The “Bathtub of Lies” excerpt looked like theatrical lighting (was it literally shot in a theater / auditorium?).
AUDIO: audio was all over the place, and not consistent. As a rule, your primary dialogue or voice overs should be set between -6 and -12 on the VU meter, music beds should be between -18 and -24.
