  • 4/23 1:27 pm - Great message. To the point. I thought they way you told the message was done well. Having the three people share their story (and that they were willing to share) worked very well. When it comes to the filming of it, the location and some of the framing is where I have some advice: - Location: it looked good until I noticed you were in a garage. Finding an empty room. Or, honestly, even a classroom, because that's a class where they really would have someone sitting next to them, and where they might not know what's happening in their lives. - Framing: When you have the camera on the individuals, not the arms of the other people. I just want to see the individuals, because this is their story. Maybe even getting a close up of them sharing what they had to say versus the medium.
Judge 1

Positives: The idea behind this piece was unique and carried a strong message. Having different stories from each person showed how each person deals with something different. The lighting was even and the subjects were equally lit. The music bed helped support the message.

Improvements: This piece could have been shot in a better setting. The background of an open garage was distracting and was not visually pleasing or relevant to the topic. The message of the piece was not fully clear and having a call to action or resources listed at the end could have helped in this regard. At 00:55, there is a jump cut that could have been avoided through different editing techniques.

Positives: The story and being conveyed by students reading other's writings was very well done. Very creative! The message of choose kindness was conveyed very well.

Improvements: The sound could have been improved with a more directional microphone. The concept could have been staged and filmed in a better way than kids at a table.

Positives: Good use of real spoke word in natural location. Message strong. Good use of camera effects.

Improvements: Actors need to tell their story with a bit more drama and realism.
