  • 3/6 4:25 pm - You all have done a great job creating a world here. Your shots are definitely your strong point. Just a couple of notes that you can work on next time: Story: Your story idea is solid though your opening monologue by the teacher set- up for something that was never resolved, so having that story didn't seem necessary. Your ending was very abrupt and could have been easily resolved by introducing the boy on the bench earlier in the beginning and then again at the end. Your camera shots were fantastic though it all seemed very underexposed or like a LUT was added for effect but wasn't necessary or wasn't effective. I can tell you made an effort to capture sound or re-dub but it was off at times and the sound sometimes sounded like it was in a vacuum and not an actual space as represented by the scene (restaurant for example). Your editing was great and the shot / reaction shot choices you made definitely showed an understanding of shot technique. Overall, you all are on the right track, but the story and lighting took away from the overall effectiveness of the short comedic narrative. keep up the good work, you're off to a fantastic start here.
  • 2/24 2:06 pm - STORY: The story set up was fine, the funniest part was the speed-dating montage. The ending was kind of anti-climactic…almost as if this wasn’t a self-contained comedy film, but just a re-edit of a piece that is actually longer. CAMERA: Everything seemed very underexposed. I’m not sure if you shot everything underexposed, or if you added a LUT to your film and unintentionally made it darker. Your shot variety is a strength. You definitely move the camera around a lot and get a variety of different angles and compositions. EDITING: Your editing pace was fine. I liked LIGHTING: Most of the film looks like it was shot with whatever lighting was available on location. This is unfortunate, because your lighting has a huge impact on your video quality. AUDIO: Audio mix seemed okay; primary dialogue was clear, music bed was mixed reasonably, and a little bit of natural sound helped blend it together. However, there were a few spots where your dialogue didn’t match up with people’s lips. Not sure if you did ADR and just couldn’t get it synched up or not.
