  • 3/11 2:55 pm - Solid production values. Good art direction and use of folies. Location sound could be improved.
  • 2/25 2:17 pm - STORY: Your concept and how you teased the movie in your trailer is great. I felt like I actually wanted to see this movie. That means you did your job! CAMERA: So…not sure if this is because of the type of cameras you use, or if you just need to work on your camera skills more…but, there were a LOT of out of focus shots, and a lot of noisy/grainy shots because they weren’t lit sufficiently. See the lighting category for more. Despite this, you did have some good shots and I could see that you had a ton of footage, which shows a lot of effort on your part. EDITING: The editing was solid. You set up your character and the situation clearly, and then as things got more intense, you picked up your pace. I also appreciate the effort you put into adding the special effects. LIGHTING: Some of your stuff looked really cool in terms of colored lighting for effect. However, a lot of your shots did NOT have enough light. When you are shooting scenes that are at night outside or in dark places inside, you still need to bring in additional lighting to get proper exposure for your image quality. EVEN IF you want it to look dark, you need more light. AUDIO: Some of your dialogue was very low in the mix, and sometimes the intense music drowned out the dialogue or natural sound from the scene.

Positives: The impressive set and prop design behind "Multi-Man" helps sell the concept, and the trailer editing techniques do a good job to heighten the action and fight choreography.

Improvements: The method of sound recording made it very difficult to understand dialogue. Use of lavalier or boom mics could help in this process – or re-record lines into the onboard camera mic and cut them in in editing.

Positives: The cinematography, lighting, and color grading look incredible! Having a strong look sets the stage for the audience as we get ready for a fun ride. I love the strong saturated colors and the dark vibe. The audience doesn't need to see everything to feel the energy. You've got a great story matched with a great style. They go hand in hand!

Improvements: There are a couple of moments that don't match the quality of the rest of the trailer. The shot of the guy walking down the stairs pulls me out. It doesn't have as much flare. Perhaps this could have just been heard through sound alone? Likewise, I love the blue look in the train station, but miss it when it suddenly goes back to the warmer look. The sound design is the weakest link. It's often difficult to hear what anyone is saying. Having a boom mic up close would have helped a lot. Plus, when you record a VoiceOver, the closer you get to the mic the more action-epic it sounds. If it's impossible to record good sound on set, you can use ADR to lip sync clear audio in post. We do it in the movies all the time!

Positives: Very cool idea! Starts off strong. Just trying to continue with the style in the beginning.

Improvements: The audio echoes a lot and the jump-cuts are very dark. Hard to watch at the end during the fight scene - blurry and the "powers" weren't visible.
