- 4/26 9:08 pm - KEEPERS: Very well done documentary and a excellent example of using photos to visually reinforce the interviews. You had plenty of photos to use and I felt like I didn't miss a thing the speaker was talking about. The speaker was well composed and he interviewed extremely well. Music worked well and the piece was well mixed. Truly something to be proud of and I hope you will share this with the veteran who was interviewed.
IMPROVEMENTS: Watch the pacing of your photos, particularly at the beginning. I would have used less photos and animated them a bit slower. The animated movement of the pictures is fast at the beginning and pacing of that animation doesn't match the feel of the music of the tone of the piece. When that happens, the photos lose impact. Slow it down a bit and let us experience the photos in a more in-depth manner. Ideally, I would have liked to have seen more video footage in this piece, but since this was an event that happened 3 years ago, I realize this might have been all you had to go on. But those video clips really made it hit even harder.

Positives: Nice job getting the viewer invested in Terry from very early on. He is a likable person and your piece makes you happy for him.
Nice use of both pictures and video to cover Terry's storytelling. Having "Cover" for your narrative is one of the most important aspects of good documentary storytelling!
Improvements: I would have liked to have heard from at least one more person talking about the honor flight and/or Terry.
Be careful that your music doesn't compete with the person talking. Check to make sure that the microphone for your interview subject isn't over modulated.

Positives: Good opening and use of still images. The music is well chosen. A strong story that is a new perspective on an important topic.
Improvements: At times, the sound is a bit "crunchy" and can be uneven (not a critique of the use of a face mask which I appreciate). Editing could be a bit smoother.
