  • 4/17 7:41 pm - Keepers: A very well done overview of the life of your choir teacher and his perception of Back of the Yards choir. The interview is thorough and the dialogue and music is well mixed together. The shot is well exposed and focused. Broll of photos is nice and it help to illustrate that this man is well loved as a teacher and he also loves his job. IMPROVEMENTS: If you're going to do a documentary about a choir, shouldn't we hear some singing from the choir? I don't mean for that question to come off as rude, but I wasn't able to hear the choirs he spoke of sing at any point. This really needed that to help break up the interview of the teacher. Having only one person speak for 5 straight minutes causes an audience to lose interest, no matter how compelling that person is. You HAVE to have broll with nat sound (like a singing choir) to break that up and keep things fresh. Could you have interviewed current and former students to get different perspectives on what taking choir means to them? Those voices were missing. Overall this was a good start but to be a documentary, this needed to be more well rounded in terms of story.
