Live coverage of Waubonsie Valley football vs. DeKalb
Positives: The announcers are very aware of the play calls in the game. Also, they had a nice discussion about grass fields. Strong knowledge.
Improvements: The announcers are whispering somewhat, specifically the play-by-play announcer. The first pass was tough to see based on the camera work. It whipped pretty speedily.
Positives: - Announcers are obviously well versed in the team and the conference, so good job in being subject matter experts. - Good use of replays to fill the time between plays.
Improvements: - For the announcers, when the down/distance is not shown on your scorebug, help the viewers out by saying it before every single play. In that aspect you should really be like a radio broadcast. Assume that your viewer has just turned in and doesn't know if it's 1st & 10 or 3rd & 27. - Would have liked a little bit more nat sound mixed in with the audio to help the viewer feel like they're at the stadium.
Positives: Overall, the talent did a great job of telling the story during this game. Their analysis was very conversational and seemed natural. Nice job with the replays.
Improvements: When there's a replay, be sure to reference it by the announcers. Even if it's just a "yep, there's the hold...". For the cameras, when following the action, make sure your camera movements are smooth. You want some tension in the camera, but not too much that your movements are a little glitchy. Metea Valley does not have a grass field - they have turf. Could use a bit more natural audio of the fans in the stands. Let's hear the band play the school song, the fans cheering, the whistles blowing, etc.
