Entry Description

This PSA is in the style of a 1950's informational video. It demonstrates the importance of using soap when washing one's hands and reminds viewers that hand washing is a fundamental way to promote good health and hygiene.

• 3/5 7:27 pm - Doing a 50's style PSA is fun. You captured the style pretty well with the script (very much like how those informational vids were scripted!). Something that could capture that style a little more is having your actors dress more in that style. Also....Hygine...if it was spelled that way on purpose, why? If not, make sure you're getting your edits double/triple/quadruple checked! In summary, the style was clever, your shots were set up well, the script was solid with the type of style you were going for.

Judge 1

Positives: Overall, this piece was creative and it took a simple topic and made it interesting and fun. The overall "50s" style of the piece was well supported through the music, black and white filter, and opening graphic. The piece clearly went over steps and visually conveyed the message.

Improvements: The "50s" style could have been taken a little bit further such as including on-screen text of the steps described in an applicable font, had the talent dress and appear more "50s" or have the narration sound a bit more retro. There could have been more of a variety in shots since it only went from a wide to a close-up of the soap dispenser. Some of the shots were long and could have benefitted from quicker cuts.

Positives: The retro effect worked well! Opening titles were great!

Improvements: Some shots were a little dark. The actors and shots could ahve used more direction to match retro styles.

Positives: Could't see enough on the screen to understand story. Hard to judge.
