- 4/10 2:24 pm - While this was a good news package, that's also what is wrong with it - it's a news package and this category is called Natural Audio News Package. The natural audio is to help tell the story, along with the sound bytes. In this case there weren't any parts where that natural audio could help to tell the story. That's the main point of this category. So while it was a great story topic, it did not fit this category due to the lack of natural audio to help tell the story.
- 3/14 9:46 pm - I really enjoyed the pace of your piece I think it was very well written and organized. You did a great job revealing the information in such a logical way. I Love the way you are editing the different voices together as one, but I wish you would have changed the background of each person in a new location. The change in voice (with the unity) was nice/unique, however but the visual diversity (because the hall background was the same) was lacking and kind of ruined the effect you were going for. In addition I felt like there is more B-roll that could have been utilized at certain points to drive home what was being said (ie cards for nurses and doctors) As for sound, the audio levels were matched, but remember this is a natural sound package, which by nature tries to intentionally pull in the natural sounds that would surround your story. There are no natural sounds anywhere in your story. Along those same lines I feel like this natural sound package is borderline reporter because it comes across so scripted (because they are all each finishing each other’s sentences), all that to say there is really nothing natural about this story. Don’t get me wrong, I liked your story, I wish some of my students could do a story this good where many people speak with one voice. I liked the piece, it just really didn’t demonstrate the skillsets needed for a good high scoring natural sound package.
