  • 4/27 9:55 pm - Good intro. Anchors do a nice job. Good story ideas...pertinent to your audience. Make sure you attribute all show content you didn't record or create. A simple text box with "PHOTO CREDIT: Chicago Tribune" would do. Some solid info throughout. Good audio levels. Good b-roll throughout. Maine Minute...great idea and way of getting those announcements out there. Good show overall.
  • 4/20 12:21 pm - Good teasers and intro to the show- lots of cool things shown from your school. Nice b-roll during story about commons area. Pictures a good touch for the tree ceremony- good to "see" as well as hear. Sports guy uses first names- you've gotta use full names. It might be a small school and "everyone know everyone" but you can't assume that. Consider upper third graphics to be placed next to the anchors so we can see as well as hear. Consider using ambient noise on the musical story- it allows us to hear a little of the musical behind the voice of the story teller. Looks like you're using A LOT of video and pictures that are not yours- you must attribute those images to avoid copyright infringement. I like Maine Minute- good idea to get a lot in in a short amount of time. I like your closing and credits- cool way to get a lot of people on the show. Show is well done with lots of info.
  • 4/7 10:04 am - Nice intro and transitions. Wrestling talent could use some more energy. Also it is “Girls’ Wrestling” not “Girl’s Wrestling.” Girl’s is singular and girls’ is plural. Good mic placement in everything. You have good, clear audio, but need to work on making the levels consistent. Throughout some segments there was a large variety of loudness from person to person. Good b-roll throughout. Pop culture piece - remember that you must give attribution to all footage and images that your crew did not take. Most of the images in this segment had no attribution. “ALL ENTRIES MUST BE THE ORIGINAL WORK OF THE STUDENT PRODUCER including scripting, directing, VIDEOTAPING, editing, and graphics. The only exceptions would be…News Program…These categories allow copyrighted images or video for historical purposes, and may include content not produced by the student, AS LONG AS IT IS ATTRIBUTED TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER.“ Nice way to put all of your announcement material together in your Maine Minute. Cool way to end your show.

Positives: So glad you were able to capture video for nearly every story! Anytime you can use video rather than photos, do it. Much more visual and captivating. Love the sports transition and that the sports anchor is "on location" rather than standing in the studio. Great feature on the wrestler. Loved that you gave her a platform to share her story, challenges and inspire others. Hope Wall is one of the better high school news stories I've seen! Interviews are gems, very visual, awesome storytelling overall. Maine Minute is a cool idea and a great way to get important information out in a clear, concise way! Overall awesome job.

Improvements: The lead story about the school renovations would have flowed well into the Hope Wall package. I would move the sports segment toward the bottom of the show, so viewers don't tune out before the reporter packages air because they are great! Cite sources in entertainment segment.

Positives: Great pacing – you moved quickly between stories and segments and got a lot of information into your newscast. The sports scores and Maine Minute were nice and tight, and I loved the quick musician highlight at the end. Quick pacing is essential in today’s news industry. Good job including hard news at the top to provide a well-rounded newscast. I also appreciated the angles on the female athlete in wrestling and the new actors in the play. Highlighting these angles instead of general pieces on the play and wrestling shows another level of professional.

Improvements: Your news program could have benefits for more production value to make it more cohesive. Consistent graphics and music could’ve helped with transition. When you’re doing a fast-paced program, high production value can help make it a tighter package. Watch your audio levels to make sure they are consistent – not too loud or quiet.

Positives: Great open. You gave me some quick headlines then a fast paced catchy intro. I love how you had branded segments. It gives people someone to watch for and keeps viewers coming back. You made school announcements really interesting. That is something that could be really boring but you kept it moving. I like how you had a variety of content and everything was interesting. Love how you ended the show with good nats.

Improvements: Your top 2 stories both talked about the band, but we never heard the band. Even if it was some nats under. Bands are not silent. While I love that the sports anchor had a very creative backdrop, all I heard the whole time was nats of the swimming pool. Where was the cheering from the sendoff?
