  • 4/20 11:00 am - The PbP had up and down moments. At times they are adding value to the game (mostly for Libertyville), but other times they just instinctually spurt out words. Both say “whoa” at 3:30 … PbP needs to just call the game. At 2:34 he says “Oh, oh my, I don’t know what she was thinking.” That isn’t professional in the call. It seems like we have five camera angles, which is awesome. I like the wide and close up cameras from center court. I only saw the baseline camera utilized once during the play. One replay – which shows me that you are committed to trying that important aspect of the process. I like the scoreboard. The camera operator on the bench seems like she is standing on the court. I also think we could have that operator do more than just point at the bench the whole time.

Positives: The game camera location is strong. Your score bug is clean, too, Very well-designed.

Improvements: Some confusion right as we join you as to what the replay is going to be. If the producer is in your ear, try to roll with whatever it is so the audience doesn't know you're confused. The shot that ends at 56 seconds doesn't tell much of a story in the crowd. It's just crowd for crowd's sake. Aim to to be a little more specific in what you're shooting in the crowd.

Positives: - Great use and timing of a replay - during a timeout you have plenty of time to go back and revisit recent plays, much better than trying to squeeze it in over live action. Well done! - I liked the variety of cutaway shots during the timeout.

Improvements: - Announcers - it's important to be sure and correct on pronunciations. Those things matter to the viewer! If it's a player on the visiting team that you're not sure of, I would recommend checking with someone during warmups - an assistant coach is a good bet, or the team trainer. Even a player on the JV team who is still there to watch would be good. Just make sure you're getting it right! - Watch the steadiness of the handheld camera, and be ready to cut off of it if it starts getting really shaky.

Positives: Nice use of the camera right in the huddle - it's hard, but work on holding that camera steady. Good use of the replay. Good wide shot of the action. Good use of "hero" camera after the baskets.

Improvements: Some of the cut-away shots of the crowd didn't really fit the flow of the game. Always check pronunciations prior to the start of the broadcast. Work on what you're going to talk about during timeouts.
