  • 4/27 10:04 pm - Great intro. Loved seeing the old footage of the building being built. Consistent audio and broll. Good story selection, pertinent to your audience. Variety show pkg is fun to watch...makes me want to tryout. I like to see some sports pkgs in the newscast but not all schools/audiences do. Maybe something to consider. Nice work!
  • 4/20 1:20 pm - Good teasers at the start and a powerful intro to get the show going- nice. Nice archive piece- I'm sure everyone liked seeing the old footage. Good interviews. ILMEA story uses good ambient noise in the background of the story. The main anchor of the show changes locations based on what the story is- that's good! Segments were well put together, closing had credits needed. Overall it was a solid show. Suggestion: include graphics with your host in the upper third so we can see as well as hear.
  • 4/7 10:05 am - Nice intro. Good audio. Good micing. Good b-roll (composition, color, quantity, etc.). Nice to see the archive footage from 25 years ago. It really added to the story. Talent show done well with audio from b-roll and going from interview with b-roll to b-roll with audio, back to interview.

Positives: I like that you start the show with headlines to keep viewers attention. File video in the school anniversary story really elevates it. Enjoyed hearing multiple teachers' perspectives on the milestone and goals for the future. Variety show story is captivating, visual and fun. Will inspire students to check it out. The anchor changing locations to intro each story is cool! Points for thinking outside-the-box and shaking things up. I appreciate that each story featured multiple interviews-- this gives the viewer multiple voices to consider.

Improvements: ILMEA story would have been a good chance to showcase natural sound! Give the music a few seconds to shine on its own. This was done well in the variety show report!

Positives: Your news packages are well produced. They are nice and tight, feature multiple interview and an impressive amount of b-roll. I loved the feature on the school’s anniversary. The footage from when the school opened was well researched and the modern-day interviews added perspective

Improvements: While the packages were well produced, the program overall would have benefited from more production value. Enhanced graphics and would have made for more impactful transition. The show was a string of packages, lacking an overall style and theme to make it a cohesive program. When doing a feature, instead of doing a broad-brush profile on a subject like you did with ILMEA or the talent show, pick an interesting individual or angle to focus on and tell a story. It will be more engaging for the viewer than an overview.

Positives: Your open is great. Fast paced shots to keep up with the music. I like how your host moves around to intro pkgs from different locations. I loved all the use of nats in the Variety Show pkg. You really showed me what that story was about instead of just telling me. Great variety of stories. Everything was engaging and interesting. Your host had great energy and kept the pace moving the whole time.

Improvements: Do the teachers not have first names? The name banners all said Mr. with no first name. In the ILMEA story, I was waiting to hear some nats full. Lots of nats under, but no full pops. Is there a reason you don't use reporter last names when introducing pkgs? The reporters sig out with their full names. You can't assume everyone who watches Wildcat Weekly knows all of your reporters. Watch the lighting when shooting your host standups. Some of her shots were a bit dark.
