Freshman Liam Hickey interviews Ana Belaval on a special edition of People in Perspective.
Positives: -very engaging host -excellent lighting and Chicago skyline backdrop looks very professional
Improvements: -could use more b-roll -decorations on set are distracting
Positives: 1. Really dynamic hosting! You were responsive to the subject's answers and transitioned well between questions to make it seem natural. You made it feel like a genuine conversation rather than just a series of unrelated questions. 2. Good variety of camera angles. In a piece with very little b roll like this it's important to have these angles to transition between to keep things visually interesting.
Improvements: 1. It would have been nice to have a clip of her on camera as b roll here, maybe as an intro! 2. Subject and interviewer energies were not at the same level, which made the host seem like he was a little bit nervous.
Positives: 1. The set is very professional and pleasing to the eye. The camera work is done wonderfully. Great headroom, lead room, and framing. 2. The B-Roll provided was very fitting to the story. It gives a personal and professional insight for such a high profiled person in the Chicagoland area. B-Roll helps with making sure we are not just watching two talking heads for a long time.
Improvements: 1. A 10-15 second motion graphic introduction title card would be a fun thing to add to this segment. Creating some unique lower thirds would add some flair to this segment instead of just text with minimal effects. 2. Ana Belaval’s audio sounds a little faint compared to the hosts sound. Make sure to put the lavaliere mic on the side where the talent is going to be speaking into and this will avoid the audio quality differences as it could be hard for the viewer to hear. This is a very common mistake but a noticeable one.
