4/27 11:06 am - This video had a fun concept and I like your use of both actors and set-design to create a world. What's lacking is a heightening of the story, going from one point to the next and building on the problem; a "if this happens, then this happens". Right now, the story is a bit one dimensional. Planning thoroughly and thinking about alternative storylines is really important in the initial stages as it rounds out the story and develops the world further than the initial bit.
Your shots are fundamental and steady, but as you grow in this field, find ways to be creative while showing the audience the important information. And use the camera as a means for humor as well, finding reaction shots to continue to make meaning.
Your sound and lighting are effective, though there were moments where the sound was picking up extra room sounds, air and such, that could be improved with a better mic position or even recording with a secondary audio device, even a phone.
Keep up the good work!
2/24 2:39 pm - STORY: Great use of that set for an infomercial. Not sure what makes this funny though.
CAMERA: shot variety in the studio was limited to the 3 basic shots (wide, cross left, cross right). Why wasn’t there a close up of the product?
EDITING: the channel changes to other shows during this piece was clever to make the original infomercial less boring, but I’m not sure they added anything funny to this piece.
LIGHTING: lighting on the set is well done.
AUDIO: sound was kind of up and down, and it seemed like some of the bits were recorded with better mics or maybe just better mic positions.
