4/19 2:52 pm - This is a very impressive selection of your work. By looking at your selections, I can already see that you have a vision in mind when you hit record. Besides the amazing composition an impressive use of creative lighting, what I enjoy the most is the way you were able to put it all together into a reel and it feels like it all goes together. Continue to work on the saturation of your color grades. And is cool as your vision seems now, continue to grow and push your creative addition into realms. Don't be afraid to fail and we'll see you on the big screen one day.
3/1 12:15 pm - Pros - Extremely polished work sample! The compositions were dynamic throughout, with balanced frames and great depth achieved through lighting control. The camera work choices between stale and handheld felt deliberate and helped to enhance the emotion of each shot, particularly the handheld camera at 0:10, 1:06, and 2:03. The use of color was phenomenal; it not only aided in the creation of depth in your frames, but emerged as an element of your overall style - 1:37 and 0:44 really stood out in this regard. Almost too many powerful visuals to mention, but the rain shots at 0:54 and 1:58 and the close-ups at 1:57, 2:00, and 1:11 were especially well done. Cons - Not too much to mention here as I found this reel to be outstanding is many ways. I would say the biggest critical feedback I have for you is to trim some of the less dynamic shots out, especially the ones that don't add anything or demonstrate a skill that hasn't been shown somewhere else in the reel (0:34, 1:07, 1:20, 2:13, and maybe the day exterior music stuff). These shots weaken the overall impression of your work because they all have minor imperfection that aren't present in your other shots (too dark, focus issues, flat). The other thing to mention is to be sure you are adhering to the rules. This reel is over time and has some questionable content (as far as MMEA permits) with smoking and the use of the middle finger.
