This is the November episode of the Glenbrook South Report for the 2021-2022 school year. This episode features stories about Women in Business Club and FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America. There is also a commerical on the Chess Team.
Positives: Captivating opener & well-lit set. The Women in Business story was shot and edited well, had a call to action and could help out a lot of students. I'm glad more than one person was interviewed for that one, it gives the viewer multiple opinions to consider. FCCLA is also a topic worth covering with a lot of good visuals to show off. Overall great job!
Improvements: Anchors hands should be on the desk. Weather talent had a lot of personality! Would have liked the segment to be a little longer so we could see more of that. Maybe incorporate wx models or pictures from outside that they could expand on.
Positives: I appreciated the story told by the business owner in the Women in Business feature. This added narrative. Using a reporter could have fleshed out this story and connected it better to the WIB program. There was a good amount of b-roll in the packages, and you went the extra step to get photos from the business owner.
Improvements: Lacked hard news. While your program included features and weather, it needed hard news at the top of the broadcast to make it a well-round news program. The packages on the Women in Business group and FCCLA ended abruptly. A reporter given a sign off could’ve helped prevent this. Consider stepping up your graphics and using music during transition to make your program a more cohesive news package.
Positives: Strong energy from your anchor to start the show. Your stories were concise and interesting. The whole show was quick and kept me engaged.
Improvements: The anchor should sit up straight and button his jacket. Own the desk, so make yourself tall. Make the viewer feel like you're confident telling me the news. You don't need that transition between every toss and pkg. It got annoying. Did you shoot all the stories? I noticed there was no reporter track. If you were not the photographer, then you should be giving those people credit. If it was you, then it's okay to say I checked this out.
