  • 4/26 8:53 pm - KEEPERS: I liked the interview shots you used for the narrator. The dark colors and hard light made for interesting compositions. The narrator had great vocal delivery and carried the story of this segment. The use of old footage from various sources served you well to drive home the point of the documentary. The audio quality of the speaker is very good and well mixed. I liked the music choices. They added airs of mystery that matched the story's content well. IMPROVEMENTS: This doesn't quite fit as a documentary to me in the classic sense. It's more experimental in tone, which is great but the story is still lacking. Other voices from astronomers are needed to bring more perspective to Mars and the potential for a 2026 mission. That would have been a great place to have heard from an expert voice. Find ways to use actual broll footage in this piece. I realize you can't film on Mars, but why not film beauty shots of the Earth landscapes to juxtapose with the differing reality of Mars? Visually, this just needed more heft. Be careful with your ending. Your voice fades out but you still have more to say!
  • 4/25 2:41 pm - I feel the tone you were trying to set with your video. Having the lighting effect on your face casting a deep shadow definitely added some dramatic effect to you telling the story. I felt it was a bit distracting at times and took away from the message you were trying to give. Great choice with b-roll, it was creative to film it being played on your projector. This was a creative way to showcase the footage. I think you should keep this consistent though throughout the video. You also cut yourself short with your fade-out effect at the end of the video, make sure you complete that sentence before you add this in. It sounds to me that you were going to continue discussing something and then your video ends.
