Riverside Brookfield High School's Boys Basketball team played an intense conference game against rival Timothy Christian. RBTV announcers Sam Egan and Jake O'brien covered the game. This clip covers the last few minutes of the 3rd quarter.
Positives: Good idea to replay the foul on the 3. Your announcers clearly have opinions on the players and know the players well.
Improvements: Why did we come on camera after the foul on the three-point shot? If there was a reason, I didn't see it. I'd generally suggest coming on camera if the announcers are interacting or making a visual point. I'd like for the announcers to lead into the player feature. It's jarring without a lead-in.
Positives: - Great variety of shots from the cameras to mix things up! Love that you have a camera on the announcers so that we can see them. - Like the replays and player feature packages! Be a little careful about where you squeeze them in, though. Live action is always the most important thing - even if it's a free throw. That player package would be a great thing to roll during the quarter break so you have more time for it. As a viewer I enjoyed it, but was also worried I might be missing the free throw attempt.
Improvements: - Seemed like the tripod may have been a little loose on your game camera - that's your most important shot, always, so important to make sure that your operator can have smooth movement without being too wobbly! - In a situation where you don't have the clock or score on the screen all the time, encourage your announcers to give more updates on it - especially here where we were winding down to the end of the quarter. They should almost treat it like radio where you would say the score and time after basically every basket/possession.
Positives: Nice tight shot of the free throw shooter. Good use of the replay. Like the "Meet the Bulldogs", but it felt a little out of place as the announcers didn't reference it. Is this something you always put in prior to the free throws.
Improvements: Always have a purpose when you take a camera shot. Not sure why we saw a quick glimpse of the announcers towards the beginning of the clip. Definitely felt like a better fit when we saw them again towards the end of the clip. Wide shot camera - be steady with the movements - it was a bit shaky and movements (pans) could have been a tad smoother.
