  • 3/5 7:38 pm - My first watch through I was uncomfortable (which is not a bad thing!). It's important bringing these issues to light and I thought the story you used and how you showed was done well. Technically, there are some things to keep an eye out for. Filming a party scene (lighting wise) can be difficult. Some of it worked well, it wasn't too blown out, but some of it seemed grainy and out of focus.

Positives: Overall, there were a lot of creative transitions and camera angles to convey the story and to set the perspective of a party-goer who is also intoxicated. The music and lighting also supported this narrative. The use of motion tracking and overlays for the text messages elevated the piece.

Improvements: This piece needed a clearer call to action at the end (ie resources, hotline, website, etc.) The use of sound effects at the end for the texting needed to be more clear. Having the typing sound effect was confusing in that it made it seem like the girl was typing when she was actually receiving the text messages. In this case, less would have been more when it came to sound effects.

Positives: The transition between party and the scary unknown was well done. Numerous elements such as the text screen worked very well.

Improvements: The audio seemed to cut at points with the change in shot, when there should be a constant ambient track. An improvement in camerawork and focus may have helped.

Judge 3

Positives: Good idea. Good story.

Improvements: Understand the concept was in dark bar, but too dark to really understand what was going on. Lost some of the message in the dark.
