- 4/28 10:13 pm - KEEPERS: Great documentary about the story of this man's journey from child to MMEA instructor. Great work producing the interviews and pulling the story out of the subject. Broll of the fighting was well done and you did a nice job of intercutting broll you didn't shoot. It worked rather seamlessly and it didn't feel like you used it as a crutch. IMPROVEMENTS: Your open was cool with the MMEA broll from ESPN. That being said, I'm not sure it really added to your story. You would have been better served to focus on the instructor and his gym. I wanted to see and hear the instructor actually instructing. I would have taken this documentary to the next level if you had left him mic'd up and then followed him around with a camera for an hour. Let the audience, see, hear and feel how is day-to-day is as an MMEA instructor. It also allows for some additional breaths and beats away from the constant sound bytes of the interview. I think you interview shots needed some more light. Everything felt a bit too dark. I could tell it was a dark gym, so you needed some supplemental light for your interview shots.
- 4/20 2:40 pm - This was very well done. You were able to create a powerful video to showcase MMA fighting. I feel you could have included more of your own b-roll at the start of the video to pull in your viewers. It was very impactful and caught my attention, but I felt it was a tad bit too long. The implementation of the B-roll during the interview was powerful and added more to what your interviewee was discussing. I feel the lighting of your shots could have been improved, it was a bit dark for your interviewing shots, and the b-roll. I think including a second angle for the interview shot would have made more of an impact on your audience as well. Overall, this was very well done!
