With a new coach and new talent, the boys soccer team drives toward the post season.
Positives: Great nat sound open as the package started to set the tone of the team spirit. Nice natural sound pop in the middle of the package to bridge the story.
Improvements: The Ryder Coleman shot needs to be framed a little tighter. There is too much space on the right side of the screen for rule of thirds formatting. I would have liked to see some more tight shots on the field to show more diversity of shots and have more natural sound throughout the whole package.
Positives: Interview audio is solid. Good use of lavaliere microphone and hiding the cords. Nice framing on the interviews.
Improvements: Rack focus doesn't work and is overused. It looks like a mistake when cutting to an image that is out of focus. Too many talking heads. We should see footage of what they are talking about. Needs more shot variety, especially closeups. Looking for reaction to compliment the action.
Positives: Ryan Crane - Good soundbites. Great sound mixing. The natural audio flowed in and out of the soundbites really well and the switch between audio wasn't jarring.
Improvements: Lower thirds went by a little too quickly for me to read. I would have started narratively with the coach and soccer players talking about the new coach, and then going into their goals. The coach being new is important context I missed because I didn't know he was new until halfway through the package. I want to know more about how the coach will change things to meet their goals as well, rather than just what their goals are. I would have liked more tight shots.
