Entry Description
Athletics hype video created for the 2022-23 school year. Involved over 50 athletes from over 20 different sports at Barrington High School. Main Street in downtown Barrington was closed down for the production. The video plays on the jumbotron and video boards at all BHS athletic events.

- 4/26 8:59 am - You have a lot of very cool edits here, along with some awesome footage. I am really impressed with how you all went around town to get all these shots. I really applaud you for getting so many different sports involved and moving around town, that takes a lot of dedication, thought, and buy-in from all parties. Nice job overall! I particularly liked when the music came in big at the beginning and you cut to the clips from previous games. I think I would include more of that throughout, evenly distributed, rather than into small chunks. Some other critiques, while the four lights worked really well, I think they created a less dramatic lighting element than if you just had a can light behind the talent, and then darkness around the frame. Finally, as I said, some of the best parts were when you cued in-game footage to the beat and worked that into the live shots, but there wasn’t enough of it to make it a pattern. Keep up the great work!

Positives: WOW! Incredible use of all athletes, town, and fans loved the lighting effects and use of space and ball manipulation between teams

Positives: This is a very. creative video, and I have watched it several times seeing something new each time. Great job. Considering the nighttime portion of this the lighting is strong. I think that the closing portion adds a lot of drama with the quick shots which match the beat. I like the shots from volleyball to volleyball or softball to baseball. Good job with the natural sound on the baseball. This is a perfect opening shot for the video. I like the drone into the players, but it could get closer to them.
Improvements: I wish that you had more game footage for the video. If you were able to splice those into the video after a sport was highlighted (for example track runner comes through the tunnel, then show them running in a meet). I know this is tough to produce, but it would make it even stronger. I wonder if there is a way to shorten it. Many teams are shown multiple times can we remove some of them? In promotional videos shorter can be better. You show the football player, but then show other sports, show football.

Positives: This production's set design, cinematography, and editing is highly impressive. The filmmaker behind this work has demonstrated remarkable skill. The seamless transition between various sports and depiction of each athlete is noteworthy, effectively conveying a compelling narrative.
Improvements: There is room for improvement in the sound design of the production. The use of a single song throughout the performance could be diversified with the inclusion of sound effects to accompany ball throws and catches. It was felt a bit repetitive and could be shortened a bit.
