This is an excerpt of our live concert with the band ATV Moses, featuring their cover of the song "Everlong".
Positives: -Great job following the action and making sure if something worth seeing was happening, the camera captured the moment. -The variety of shots that were presented added creativity and kept the viewer engaged.
Improvements: -Try to avoid quick zooms. If you choose to zoom, try to slow it down a bit or make sure the director doesn't take the shot mid-zoom. -Some of the shots were a bit too quick (two seconds) Try to hold the shot a bit longer so it doesn't feel like the viewer missed the action.
Positives: Nice use of wide, low and tight camera angles and cover each band member. everything seemed white balanced well.
Improvements: Directing at the beginning followed the beat to the song but was not cohesive throughout. A little more movement with camera angles and getting different shots such as close up of fingers on the guitar, or a tilt up from guitar to player's face could help give more of a visual story.
Positives: - Really liked that we were able to hear the crowd at an appropriate level at the end - often crowd mics are a forgotten element or poorly mixed; this worked very well. - Good anticipation by the director of moments where it would make sense to feature the drummer, singer, etc.
Improvements: -Some of the camera movement while live was a little abrupt. Always anticipate that your subject may be moving, and be ready to adjust your framing smoothly to keep them in the frame. - If possible with camera placement, it would be fun to see the audience once or twice during this - during the song once would be appropriate, and then either right before or right after the song would be a great time to include crowd shots as well.
