Gatorade commercial directed by Nichelle Alexander.

Positives: I really like what you are selling to me. You basically said "If you drink Gatorade, you will be able to study hard and play hard." The transition at 0:28 is really slick. Old commercials have no transitions, this transition you used adds so much to the overall fun and professionalism. Your transitions are my favorite part of this commercial, they keep the viewers attention.
Improvements: Editing: In general, I would want to shorten this commercial by about 10 seconds. You gave about 25 seconds worth of info in 44 seconds. All the shots were great but I think you can edit it to be faster. I wouldn't cut anything necessarily, mostly just speed it up. During this part "some drink coffee..." I think you can fly through that sequence in 7 seconds instead of 15. The coffee drinker seemed fine to me. I was confused because the coffee drinker seemed to be studying in the library with no problems. If you are saying that Gatorade is better than coffee, then maybe show the coffee drinker like freaking out and tweaking because they had way too much caffeine and they can't concentrate. Lighting - Your lighting was good and natural. However, I am left wanting a little more... Maybe you can use some extra lighting on the Gatorade product to make it special. Commercials don't have to make sense, maybe when the Gatorade is on the stool in the gym, it has a little extra glow to it. Something that visually says "this drink is calling to you!" Basically, the people and the gym and the Gatorade all have the same visual feel. If I worked for Gatorade, I would want the product to be the clear star of the commercial, not anything else.
Positives: Great job telling a narrative that sells the product. I think the story was well timed. I loved the ambient sound, the sounds of drinking and the whistle. Everything just makes your world come to life and makes you crave a cool sip! I thought direct eye contact was a good move considering the characters were masked.
Improvements: I think a little more time spent on lighting and it would be hard to tell this was not a professional commercial. Lighting is an important tool in telling the story. Had your hero walked into the school and into the spot light, he would have looked even cooler while telling you about his choice beverage. I might have chosen a bolder color drink but that being said I am glad you didn't choose red since the gym is red. Well done!

Improvements:
Positives: This spot demonstrates a ton of great thinking - really, really strong - nice work. - The use of a narrative story following a student athlete beginning to end is rad - we have a punchy open with the bell ring and a couple jokes worked in, we have the product benefits and a rational for why its the best choice for an active lifestyle, and we have a great hook and end on a drill - really solid. - The use of dialogue and a full script is an added challenge and the creative really pulled it off well - and overall the sound design is really nice.
Improvements: Hard to find bones to pick, but: - I think the line "What will you choose?" ties the idea together conceptually, but it's very broad language, and I'd love to see some more thinking in that area. How could you write a line that on its own would speak to Gatorade? - This is a minor push: In the script we speak to "Others have their own way of staying up", but we then pan to see someone sleeping (the snore is great). The joke is funny, but doesn't land as well as it could because the dialogue doesn't match to situation. Maybe there's a way to write to the idea that "some people just struggle to stay awake" - - something to that effect.
