  • 3/27 11:15 am - Works well - Excellent cinematography and editing. Good sound design. Good acting performances. Felt very professional technically. Needs work - The story felt under-developed. The chase/fear didn't go on long enough to heighten the drama to where you wanted it to be. The ending was kind of clever, but also disappointing. As a thriller, the ending wasn't all that exciting. As a comedy, the ending wasn't all that funny. I think this would have worked better if you chose one or the other, but not both.
  • 3/2 11:21 am - I thought this was excellent. The editing was very professional. Most of the shooting was fantastic, but watch your framing around 3:00ish- the main character's head gets cut off the top of the screen. Give him some headroom. The story was quite impressive as well, but is this a comedy? I felt like it was a mystery/scary movie genre. Very well done.
  • 2/21 1:27 pm - Camera: great shot variety and compositions - everything seemed very intentional and focused Lighting: solid lighting and very consistent Sound: sound for dialogue was a little noisy at times. Good use of sound effects and music, but at times the mix seemed a little hot. Watch your levels on the VU meter. The build up suspenseful sting from 3:18 - 3:40 got WAY too loud. Editing: tight! Really cool use of the green text messages on the computer screen. Story: what’s up with the beard disappearing and re-appearing?? Continuity matters. The story was clear and you established a plot pretty well. But I’m just not sure if this is comedy; it seems more like just a funny drama or mystery.

Positives: Great, classic structure. Establish the world, twist, escalation, and eventual climax. Liked the in-your-face approach to the man in black, etc. These were horror/scary elements, but had a comedic flavor because they were so RIGHT THERE. The disappearing-behind-the-pillar shot was cool.

Improvements: This felt like a parody that didn't quite push the humor to the forefront. In an effort to use tropes of horror/thrillers, they lost some potential comedy. Most of the pieces - from the performances, the dialogue, the man in black, the pacing - were straight-up horror/thriller. Had ONE of these pieces been twisted away from horror, it would have been more successful comedically (for instance - had Leo never been frightened at all, or had been bored. Or had the man in black been bumbling or goofy, while everyone is terrified etc.)

Positives: great lighting nice camera movement

Improvements: have main character explain his dilemma more fully

Judge 3

Positives: I am always a fan of a fusion of horror and comedy. This is no exception! Really strong sound design, which added to the overall mood of tension throughout.

Improvements: While really loved this film, it could've used a few more comedy beats to really fit the comedy category. You could rely on the best friend character as further comic relief if you wanted to insert more humor in there.
