  • 4/28 12:57 am - I like the professional dress of the anchors. Having all four anchors in front of the news desk/set is a bold move. Consider how you stand there...the cowboy thumbs in the pocket pose contrasts with the other anchors. Solid delivery and transition to show intro. Nice mix of anchors delivering news with broll and packages. Nice OTSs. I enjoyed the goose poop story. The shot of the poop on the carpet made the story hit. Packages have nice broll and SWAP well with the story. Some good sports writing. Baseball package is definitely interesting and news worthy but would benefit from more original footage. Nice transition to weather. Audio is a little funky in the dialogue between weather anchor and news anchor after weather. Solid classic news show with effective graphics, anchors, writing, and broll.
  • 4/28 12:04 am - The opening shot of all four just feels wrong for some reason, the framing is off. The boy on the left also has a very dark suit which blends in with the background. The anchors have an excellent delivery style. The OTS looks great and the lighting is excellent. I like that we have a traditional VO to start the show. The toss to a SOT is a smart format for this story and added b-roll. This feels very professional. I like how the poop story was handled (giggle), but creative way of telling the story, but at one point reporter pitches to a soundbite which doesn't say what they pitched it to. I like the producing of this show and the variety of stories I'm seeing. Nate does a great job matching to his highlights. The sports package is good, although I'd love more original footage on him. Honestly a very solid show.
  • 3/3 2:20 pm - You put together a nice news show. Your opening is creative, but maybe should feature more than just your crew? Where are the shots of your school and the activities that go on there? Your anchors do a nice job- they read well and have a good presence on the air. Weather was a cool idea and the graphics you used looked professional. Good interaction with the anchors after the weather report. Sports was put together well- perhaps have different graphics than what was used for the news. Your packages were very well done. The Goose story was informative and had some great shots in it. The story about the baseball player was informative and looked good too. Overall, the show was professional and a good representation of your high school.

Positives: - nice adding in soundbites in between anchor reads to add variety -love the banter after the goose story between anchors, it shows humanity and makes them relateable. The talent was excellent!! Awesome adding in weather, Great energy and presentation

Improvements: -try to frame your interviews with the interviewee looking off camera at the reporter who’s doing the interview. -try adding in a harder news story for variety in the newscast

Positives: The news package on the geese was excellent. The topic was interesting and relevant to students, the b-roll, including drone shots, was remarkable and even though viewers may find the topic (geese feces) funny, the report was delivered professionally. This was a very cohesive program. The graphics had a consistent theme with the colors matching the set and carried between segments. The segue before the geese package with music helped tie the program together.

Improvements: I would have appreciated more news packages. While having news delivered from the desk is needed, the news packages, like those on the geese and the draft prospect, are the pieces that are engaging. Admittedly, it was difficult to decide between your entry and the one that finished ahead of you. The difference was that your program could be more polished. Example, the gestures in the opening video distracted from the program’s professionalism along with the anchor copy after the geese package.

Positives: - Overall, this is a good show! Everyone on-air did a great job in engaging the camera and viewer on every story. That's tough to do -- so well done! - I really like the camera work overall. Good shots, great variety and some sequencing make a big difference

Improvements: - The packages don't need music underneath. Instead, look for opportunities for natural sound. On the geese story, let the viewer hear footsteps, the geese squawking, etc. This helps the viewer feel like they are where you are, which helps capture their attention. - In writing, aim for more active voice than passive voice
