  • 4/18 11:56 am - There should be no music in a natural audio package, I imagine it will be disqualified. Some quick notes When you go in and out of your b-roll bridge it so it doesn’t just suddenly cut in and out. When you don’t do that it makes your story very choppy. Your story seems to skip and jump, you mention him not waking up I didn’t realize at that point he had died especially when you cut to a shot of him talking by the horse, then at the end I suddenly find out he died. Again a little choppy It is hard stringing together interviews to tell a story, before the interview starts you should have an idea of the segments you want to cover and then create questions that will get you to the sound bite you are looking for. I appreciate you editing the video down and breaking up the mom's interview, but it didn’t flow because the inflections were wrong (because it was chopped up) Your sound levels were all over the place.
  • 4/16 1:25 pm - A very moving story, however music beds are not permitted in this category. Flash frame around 1:40. The purpose of this category is to have the natural audio and the sound bytes tell this story. Lose the music and let the interview tell the story with the natural audio clips weaved in.
  • 3/6 2:13 pm - Joey's story was incredibly touching and you did an excellent job cutting your interview together to tell a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end with an uplifting message. The interview was well framed and lit. I love that you used personal photos and videos of Joey from his family- the photos selected highlighted the very joyful parts of his life. However, this interview may be better suited for the documentary category and not news package. This category does not allow music tracks to be edited in. I would encourage you to continue to develop this story for that category- I would love to hear more from Joey's family and friends about the impact he had on them.
