Judge 1
Positives: The use of black and white footage that then ends in color adds to the final message of the piece. Having two camera angles added some dimension to the piece and allowed for better transitions between the speakers. The dialogue was clear and the use of multiple speakers was very engaging.
Improvements: The call to action or message is somewhat unclear. The piece starts by saying that black history month is a celebration of black excellence and celebrating the past present and future. The message then shifts to saying that black history month dumbs down the true meaning of black history and isn't enough before shifting to the closing statement that paying homage to what the black organizers have done would be the best way to honor black history without providing and approach of how to achieve that. At 5 seconds audio appears to be pulling from the camera mic which is inconsistent with the rest of the audio. There are a few sections where the speaker is cut off mid-sentence or mid-thought, at 34 seconds for example, where allowing for a longer pause or smoothing out the cut would help the flow of the dialogue. There was a minor jump cut at 10 seconds that could have been minimized with a morph cut or switching between camera angles.
