As Midterm Elections are a little over a month away, Shandana shares how Wildcats can become Election Day ready! Reporter: Shandana Malik Program: Wildcat Weekly
Positives: - I found this story really informative, and part of the reason why is because of the work you did on visuals. I like the variety you have, and I thought the screengrab of registering was important. - Great job getting different perspectives on interviews. I like how you framed the teacher's interview. Well done!
Improvements: - Some of the soundbites are a little long. Try to keep them no longer than 10-15 seconds. It helps you control how your story flows. - The story could have used some natural sound. Maybe next time, record someone using a computer mouse and keyboard to get into your registration b-roll.
Positives: I like that you got creative for a story that was not very visual. The different broll, as well as pictures and the websites really helped tell your story. I like how you used sound from someone older and younger to get a broad view of the story. I like how you kept the sound with the student unbiased. You only used why its important to volunteer rather than her opinions on issues.
Improvements: You're not going to love every topic you report about, but try to sound interested. The woman in the sots are so passionate. Your track falls flat surrounding them. Make sure to source the pictures of all the candidates, just as you sourced the pictures from the Underwood campaign. Be mindful of the lighting. Some of your shots in the classroom and of the bulletin board are a bit dark,
Positives: Well written and good use of interviews to drive the story Interview subjects framed well
Improvements: Would've liked to see a reporter stand-up to show presence on-air The piece could have used some more broll... a lot of pictures used, which worked well. But generic video of students or people voting would've been ideal
