  • 4/28 12:24 am - Consider where you record your anchors. Many schools have different ideas. However, the hallway you selected doesn't bring anything to your show. The anchors of some good energy but the audio (reverb, etc) doesn't add to your show. Nice opening. Eliminate jump cuts in interviews by placing broll over those cuts. AP sign pkg was nicely done. This or That is an entertainment piece that may not necessarily fit a newscast. It would work better in a news magazine format. Let your LTs identify your package subjects. Some good broll in the tennis package. Nice tease for next week's show.
  • 4/27 11:46 pm - The open is good and appropriate. The anchors standing in a hallway seems like an odd choice. I can't tell if it is really filmed in a hallway or if that is a green screen (which would be an odd choice for a green screen background). The reporter does a nice job of fronting the story, but the jump cuts and the non creative way of leading into bites are a distraction. Try putting b-roll over cuts. Use rule of thirds when doing interviews. In the second package, the soundbites seem very long and this drags. It is an interesting concept for a story. This or That doesn't really seem newsworthy or belong in a newscast. The announcement part of the show could maybe use a lower 3rd graphic or something to spruce it up. The anchor here does well and is engaging. The tennis story could have been good, but too heavy handed and not enough storytelling by the reporter. Most things seemed to just be bridges to the next soundbite.
  • 3/5 10:14 am - Cool opening- however, accomplishment was spelled wrong in the titles. Transition used to go to the segment was nicely done. Audio in the hallways from the anchors sounds very echoey and you can hear people talking in the background- make sure you are in an ideal sound space Jump cuts in the interview for lunch- use b-roll to avoid those cuts. Student interview needs nameplate in lunch story. This or that doesn't seem to use microphones at the beginning. Might want to let everyone know where you are dress shopping? Some of the segments using music- watch the levels. Music is just at that point where it's too loud for the voice being heard. Tennis story- don't need to have interviews introduce themselves- that should be done in the transitions and in the nameplates. Good enthusiasm from the anchors- they keep it fun! Overall- the show had some good elements and interesting segments. Continue to concentrate on audio and keeping the levels consistent.
