This is a clip from the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic Championship between Lyons Township and Rolling Meadows. It was produced by a crew of 6 students.
Positives: The directing pacing was on-point! Good job with the anticipated shots of the hero player after they score. Talent was very informative and didn't step on each other's sentences.
Improvements: There was the one shot that may have zoomed out on accident while the camera was on program. I know that can be hard to deal with but find a cut away shot to get off see if the operator is okay and go back to it when stable.
Positives: - Announcers did a nice job, especially for calling a game between two schools that aren't yours you were very familiar with the teams and rosters, which is great for the viewers. - Camera work for cutaways and ISO shots was great - your hero shots after baskets were quickly available and well framed.
Improvements: - Framing on the game camera can be tightened quite a bit. Especially when the action is on the far side of the court we need to zoom in slightly (and gently!) to be able to better show viewers what is happening on the court.
Positives: Directing - Excellent. You cut to players in a close up after they make a shot. That adds so much professionalism in a sports broadcast. Announcers - Very well done. I love the calmness, the confidence, and the informed presentation. Sound - The sound was mixed very well. Great mix of crowd with the announcer mics. It's very common to have mic problems at high school sports broadcasts... Your sound was A+
Improvements: Camera - The camera had a few very subtle shakes. I didn't notice it my first few times viewing. Therefore it was really subtle. Directing - I wouldn't call this a mistake but I encourage you to experiment with the following ideas: -more close up zoom ins on players (more frequent, and more zoomed in) -fan coverage It was hard to find mistakes (if any) in your broadcast!
