  • 3/30 10:41 am - Keepers: Really nice sound bytes, broll and music combination for the open. Really well done there. This subject is enormous with a ton of facets to it and I commend you for taking it on. The broll and editing was well paced for the most part. You had a nice balance of student and teacher/staff voices which offered differing perspectives. Improvements: One of the story elements that I think could have been explored a bit more was the inherent inequity of online learning. What lessons did teachers learn about students and their home lives and the realities of navigating through all of that while trying to learn? I just remember realizing how many challenges my students faced at home, which made the idea of online learning so much more challenging. I realized how much they had to navigate just to make it to "class." The documentary sort of just ends without any real ending button. What lessons were learned? I think this question needed to be explored more. Work a bit on your interview set ups. The framing of the subjects is good, but what about background? Try to use backgrounds with a lot of depth and avoid solid walls, cabinets, etc. Let us see the environment that surrounds the subject. Makayla is a great interview set up. Find more locations with that type of look where we see lots of depth. In terms of your broll, this is a small thing, but I'm wondering why you chose to film so much broll outside of your district? The only reason I know this is because I teach at Maine East High School, so I knew immediately that you were filming at and around Golf Mill mall. It's probably not a big deal on the whole, but it distracted me just a bit. Good attempt at a very tough subject!
  • 3/5 8:09 pm - A good variety of speakers. Good job getting information from the subjects. The video looks good, and the audio is clean. The opening epigraph does not quite fit, and some of the b-roll is a bit off. At times the music bed is a bit loud.
