An informational news package that follows the girl's bowling team as they overcome transportation issues and form lasting friendships along the way.
Positives: - I really like how you told this story, setting up the problem before explaining the solution. The interviews really helped in this. You picked great soundbites. - I also really liked how you framed the interviews. The depth of field looks outstanding.
Improvements: - While I appreciate you getting a variety of b-roll, I still think you needed more, especially in tight shots. Those tight shots will get you out of editing holes, like some jump cuts in the bus section. - You need to incorporate natural sound on a story that has a lot of it. We know buses are loud, and we know bowling alleys are too. Next time, include little bits of those noises to break up your reporter track. It helps the viewer feel like they are there, which helps keep their attention.
Positives: The lighting on the coach interview looked great, especially when bowling alley light can be awful. Framing on her was great too. Lighting on other interviews was great too. Good use of keeping bowling nats in the background. Life isn't silent and this was a great use of it. You did a good job trying to match what you were saying with the broll.
Improvements: Its okay to stay on a shot more than 2 seconds. The first 20 seconds of the pkg had 10 different shots. The pkg was a bit long. Try to trim to 1:30
Positives: Narrated well over video. It's always great to see reporters write to video they have Great use of natural sound to transition between clips
Improvements: I highly recommend adding a reporter stand-up to show on-air presence broll could've been a little more diverse. A lot of wide shots used. Try to shoot a series of shots that relate to the same activity to form a sequence. The sequence is key to visual storytelling.
